  • UPCOMING 8th GRADE EVENTS
Last week, all 8th grade students were presented with information about "Getting Ready for High School." It was an opportunity to introduce high school diploma requirements and post high school options. Students were also given a worksheet to show them how to compute their grade point average.

Here is parent information and steps to follow to help with the transition to high school:
    Step 1High School Selection
Visit this link to select the high school you would like your student to attend next year. Every family must make a selection by Monday, March 6th at 4pm. In order to make a selection, you will use your student's permanent ID number (if your student's ID is less than 6 digits you can add a zero at the end). As a resident of the district you can choose either La Costa Canyon, San Dieguito Academy, Torrey Pines or Canyon Crest high schools.

    Step 2Residency Verification
Each school year, every family must provide proof of residency for the following school year. Visit this link to print required documents and return along with proofs of residency to Oak Crest's main office. Even though your student will not be attending Oak Crest next year, we are responsible for collecting residency verification from you and we send the documents to our district office. We also have paper copies of required documents available in the front office.

    Step 3: High School Notification
All 8th grade families will receive an email by Friday, March 24 notifying them of the high school their student will attend.

    Step 4High School Orientation Night
The high school that your student will be attending will send you an email to let you know when they will be having their orientation night (all schools will have them between the dates of March 27 and April 7). At orientation night, families will receive a registration packet and return those packets to the high school on a designated evening where they will have an opportunity to review course selections with a counselor.

  • Student involvement: A great way for your student to be connected on campus and meet other students with common interests is to attend any of our student led clubs on campus. Click here for schedule.
  • Student support: Contact Michelle McNeff, counselor if you have concerns about your child's transition to and/or experience in middle school. We have supports in place for academic help, and can help address personal/social/emotional concerns.
